Industries: Candles: Scenti Masterbatches

Scenti Masterbatch is a scent concentrate on a solid wax basis. The solid form allows easy handling. It can be easily incorporated in any paraffin candle wax in a melted state. Scent bond is extremely high both during processing and in the finished product. Oiling-out as in conventional aromas is absent. Processing in candle dip and shell masses is equally possible as is processing in candle body.
Scenti Masterbatch is suitable for all the usual candle technologies. The final product, the scented candle, has a considerably improved scent cycle. Scenti Masterbatch is an patented innovation from the SASOL WAX house in close cooperation with Bell Flavors & Fragrances.

The product advantages:

Scenti Masterbatch is suitable for all the usual candle technologies.

Scenti Masterbatch has, in addition to its high degree of scent binding, a clouding effect on the paraffin wax composition, so that -especially in casting technology - other clouding agents can be reduced.

Scenti Masterbatch allows the production of perfumed spray paraffins which are suitable for moulding technology. The penetration temperature process of candle composition is considerably less influenced by the use of Scenti Masterbatch in place of perfume oils. In contrast to the use of perfumed oils, the drawability of the composition mass is promoted through the use of Scenti Masterbatch.

Scenti Masterbatch can be used in higher doses especially in dip masses. These dip masses are especially suitable for coat-dipping unperfumed candles. A coat-dipped perfumed candle with a normal dip mass - e.g. THP type 6065 - similarly represents no difficulty.

Miscibility and handling

Under polarised light, the microscopic video recordings clearly show the different homogeneity in the crystalline structures. Whereas the oil drops have not mixed and have therefore evaporated, Scenti Masterbatch has mixed evenly and in a fine structure, thus clearly enhancing the integration of the aroma.

Scenti Masterbatch is a wax product. Conditions known and trusted by candle manufacturers hold good. By incorporation in the paraffin melt, the flash point must be observed. Because of the melting temperature, Scenti Masterbatch can be incorporated well at temperatures around 70°C and has a high solubility. Odour problems are thus eliminated to a large degree.

Test for burning

All scent concentrates are tested for burning in our laboratories. In addition, the individual fragrances, subdivided in chemical substance classes, are tested for toxin-free burning. These analyses are carried out by the Institute for Environmental Research in Bayreuth.

Scent binding ability

Through the use of Scenti Masterbatch instead of perfume oils it is possible to bring a high concentration of aromatic substances into the candle composition.
Scenti Masterbatch is completely dissolved in the candle raw material and is not eliminated later (no dissolving-out). The degree of homogenisation is retained for ever.

The carrier medium for Scenti Masterbatch works as an excellent fixative for the fragrance components. It gives off the scent especially well in the fluid phase, that is to say when the candle is burning. The scents candle mass, however.

Dermatological harmlessness

Only aromatic substance which are known to be dermatologically harmless are used.
